  • DICV gets ISO 50001:2018 certification for its Energy Management System.
  • With this, DICV covers the global standards of all the four major areas of operations under Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental and Energy management
  • DICV is the first entity to achieve this milestone within Daimler Trucks, Asia and one among the very few across Daimler plants worldwide.
  • Milestone achieved within six months of its plan to go for ISO 50001

Chennai– Daimler India Commercial Vehicles marked yet another milestone in the sustainability efforts by achieving ISO 50001 certification for its energy management system adapted in the oragadam plant near Chennai. With this, the management system standards in DICV operate under quadruple certification including Quality management (IATF 16949), Environmental management (ISO 14001:2015), Occupational Health and Safety Management (ISO 45001:2018) and now, Energy Management (ISO 50001:2018).

Energy saved is energy generated. Energy optimization is the key area where DICV was already working to implement systems and standards at all levels and focused to develop a method to perform systematic analysis of all energy-consuming equipments. In a short span of six months, the company established a system to monitor, measure, analyze, optimize and improve the energy consumption of equipments operated in the shop floors and other areas. This has led to the successful implementation of ISO 50001 requirements while demonstrating excellence during the external audits.

The main objective of the ISO 50001 standard is to continually improve DICV’s energy performance, which includes energy consumption, use and efficiency. The standard employs a defined approach that helps to establish systems and processes to identify untapped energy efficiencies and make a significant contribution to environmental performance, climate protection and reduction of carbon footprint.
