Mitsubishi Fuso majority shareholder Daimler Truck increases group sales in 2021

 

• MFTBC majority shareholder Daimler Truck has achieved sales volume targets at the group level and within industrial business segments
• Daimler Truck reports sales of approx. 455,000 units for 2021, 20% above prior year level
• Trucks Asia business segment reports approx. 143,000 units in sales for 2021, 30% above 2020 results

 

Stuttgart, Germany/Kawasaki, Japan — Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC; headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Karl Deppen) announces that majority shareholder Daimler Truck has significantly increased its group sales in the past fiscal year. With 455,000 units, approximately 20% more trucks and buses were sold worldwide by the Daimler Truck group in 2021 compared to prior-year level. The company benefitted from a recovery in its most important markets, especially in the first half of 2021.

Trucks Asia, which includes the FUSO brand, achieved approximately 143,000 units in sales in 2021, 30% above its record from the previous year. All other industrial business segments also achieved their volume targets.

At its annual results conference on March 24, Daimler Truck will present detailed financial and non-financial key figures at group and segment level and present its forecast for the current fiscal year 2022.

Daimler Truck’s new Financial Services business (DTFS) constitutes the fifth segment, the product range in the truck segments includes light, medium and heavy trucks for long-distance, distribution and construction traffic and special-purpose vehicles used mainly in the municipal and vocational sector. The product range of the bus segment includes city buses, school buses and intercity buses, coaches and bus chassis. In addition to the sale of new and used commercial vehicles, the company also offers aftersales services and connectivity solutions. In 2020, approximately 378,500 trucks and buses were delivered.
