eTruck Ready App now available for the FUSO eCanter in key markets

etruck-ready-app 14th July 2021, Kawasaki, Japan

・The app collects real route data and simulates the applicability of the electric eCanter truck in day-to-day operations

・Customers will be able to see how far the eCanter can be driven on regular routes

・Vehicle body type, outside temperature, load capacity, and idle time can be specified for precise simulations

Kawasaki, Japan — Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC; headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Hartmut Schick), announces that customers in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan will now be able to simulate eCanter operations with the eTruck Ready App. The eTruck Ready App is available for download free of charge on Android and iOS devices.

As the logistics industry moves toward the new era of emobility, truck owners are faced with the need to see how electric trucks can be integrated into their daily operations. The eTruck Ready App provides an answer to this uncertainty by providing customers with data-based visualization of how much an eCanter can contribute to their everyday needs. MFTBC expects the learnings from this app will support customers feel more confident in their decisions as they begin electrifying their fleets.

In order to create the simulation, truck drivers will need to carry a mobile phone installed with the eTruck Ready App in their vehicle. From the driven routes, the app will then collect data such as speed, acceleration, and altitude profile, and send the information to the cloud-based eTruck Ready System. The calculated simulation result is then made available to truck operators via web application. Truck operators will be shown how much of their regular routes can be covered with the eCanter on one charge. These runnability predictions are made even more precise with settings such as vehicle body type, outside temperature, load capacity, and idle time.

Registration and recording can be achieved in two simple steps. Truck owners or fleet managers first need to register their company name and address to create an account. Once this is completed, customers will be assigned a fleet number as well as a PIN code. Once the the eTruck Ready App is installed on the desired mobile device, route recording can be easily activated by logging in with these identifiers. The driving route will be tracked as long as an internet connection is available.

The eTruck Ready App is part of the holistic e-consultation approach developed within Daimler Trucks, the parent organization of MFTBC. Since 2020, Daimler Trucks has been assisting potential Mercedes-Benz eActros customers clarify their electrification potential with the use of the app. As the app is now compatible with the eCanter, MFTBC will aim to further strengthen its leading presence in the field of CO2-neutral transport.

The eCanter, which falls under the 7.5-ton gross vehicle weight class, ensures a range of about 100 kilometers per charge. With quick-charging stations, the vehicle only takes a maximum of approx. 1.5 hours to fully recharge. Having already launched a new model with advanced safety features in August 2020, MFTBC is currently developing the next generation of the eCanter with further upgrades and a wider range of variations. Over 200 units of the eCanter have been delivered to customers worldwide.
