Jakarta, Indonesia/ Kawasaki, Japan -  Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC; headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Karl Deppen) is pleased to announce that the two Indonesian production sites currently assembling components and vehicles for the FUSO brand are celebrating their 50th year of operation.

Established in 1973, PT Krama Yudha Ratu Motor (KRM; headquarters: Jakarta; President Director: Lambertus Hutauruk) presently oversees the welding, painting, and assembly of FUSO’s light-duty Canter truck and medium-duty Fighter X for the Indonesian market, with knock-down (KD) kits exported out of MFTBC’s Kawasaki Plant. PT Mitsubishi Krama Yudha Motors and Manufacturing (MKM; headquarters: Jakarta; President Director: Takahiro Saito), located next to the KRM facilities, currently assembles powertrain components for the Canter, while also covering the stamping and welding of body parts such as the cab floor for both the Canter and the Fighter X. Over the past decades, the two facilities have continuously contributed to the growth of the FUSO brand within the Indonesian market. Most recently, in 2022, KRM and MKM ensured the successful start of production of a fully remodeled lineup of vehicles matching Indonesia’s new Euro-IV emissions standard.

MKM also inaugurated its first installation of a photovoltaic energy generation system on the roof of one of its main facilities. Currently, the solar panels generate approximately 14% of the MKM stamping factory’s daily energy needs. Together with other changes such as the use of LED lighting and the procurement of renewable energy certificates, MKM is targeting a 15% reduction of CO2 emissions in 2023, compared to the previous year. As carbon neutrality throughout the value chain continues to develop as a focal point in the global automotive industry, these initiatives at the plant represent an important step toward more sustainable production practices in Indonesia.
